Nigeria is not a smaller version of another ecommerce market. Winning stores design around local buying conditions while maintaining the performance and clarity expected from international brands.
Mobile is the primary storefront
Design decisions should begin on a real mobile device and an ordinary connection. Prioritise a lightweight first screen, readable product information, thumb-friendly controls and an add-to-cart action that remains easy to reach.
Trust must arrive before the payment screen
Show real product photography, clear company details, independent reviews and an understandable return process near the buying decision. Customers should not have to search for evidence that the store is legitimate.
Delivery clarity is part of conversion
State where you deliver, how delivery fees are calculated and when an order should arrive. Vague logistics copy creates hesitation and support requests even when the product is strong.
Social discovery needs a credible destination
Social platforms can introduce a product, but the product page must complete the sale. Preserve message continuity between the post or advert and the landing page, then answer price, fit, proof and delivery questions in one journey.
Measure by market and device
Segment conversion rate, checkout completion and revenue per visitor by country, city where reliable, device and acquisition source. This reveals whether the problem is traffic quality, mobile UX or checkout friction.
